The most affordable commuting mode just got a big boost! On January 1, IRS-qualified transportation fringe benefits [Section 132(f)] expanded to allow up to $20 per month for bicycle commuters. This can be set up as a pre-tax salary deduction or company benefit. This equates to $240 a year that bicyclists can spend on everything from a new bicycle to bicycle accessories.
